  • How often should I do a pull up program?

    While this program is geared towards beginners, it can also be used to help non-beginners breakthrough pull-up plateaus and as an accompaniment to your back training. Perform each of the three workouts below every week, with at least a day of rest between each, for four weeks.

  • What should be included in the 30 day Pull Up Challenge?

    Include Activation Moves aka isolation movements that use little to no resistance that get the shoulder blades moving and your back starting to work. Then after your back is engaged and working, you'll be able to truly strength it with more compound moves OR even all of your pull up work.

  • Is the pull up a good workout for a beginner?

    Often, for beginner strength, power, and fitness athletes (and general fitness goers alike) the pull-up is often one of the most challenging bodyweight movements to master. The upper body strength necessary for the pull-up (strict) is highly demanding; and often requires a systematic approach to maximize pull-up performance in beginners.

  • What to do after doing 20 pull ups a day?

    If you follow the 20 Pull Ups program with my recommendation for morning workouts, make sure you get plenty of sleep each night, and make sure you are eating at least 5 small meals or snacks a day with plenty of protein.     The challenge starts off easy and gradually builds up. The goal is as much a mental challenge as it is a physical challenge. Sticking to a daily goal over a period of time has proven to be the hardest part.

  • When to take a break from pull ups?

    After a couple of weeks, you can add in a third or even a fourth day, as long as you feel you are recovering quickly enough. If you train pull-ups hard, you won't need to do much else for your back and biceps. Then, when you feel ready, take a few days off and test yourself.
