As the name suggests, soft reset is treating your device softly. It’s a basic restart process that doesn’t hamper any of your iPad functionality. You also never risk losing data or settings when running a soft reset. We recommend using this type of reset as a universal troubleshooting method —provided your iPad is responsive.
Reset a locked iPad using iTunes. The moment you connect your iPad to iTunes, iTunes will detect the iOS device automatically. Select "Summary" and click "Restore Backup" under "Backups" section. Choose "Restore" to confirm whether iTunes should restore your iPad to factory settings or not.
These include photos and videos, messages and call logs, among others. Select your preferred files then click on the "Recover to your Computer" button. This button may alternatively show as "Recover to your device". At this point, your iPad will restore without iTunes.
