Academically, the school provides the opportunity to build a solid college preparatory background. The school offers fifty-six Honors, Advanced Placement, and Dual Enrollment courses that motivate students to excel beyond the normal challenge at each grade level.
It is part of the East Baton Rouge Parish School System with a student body of approximately 1500 students. The current building was built in 1926, and, as Baton Rouge High School, was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1986.
