10 hours ago The CURB-65 Score includes points for confusion and blood urea nitrogen, which in the acutely ill elderly patient, could be due to a variety of factors. An alternative scoring system, SOAR, circumvents those two parameters. It uses low systolic BP (S) and poor oxygenation (PaO2: FIO2) (O), advancing age (A), high respiratory rate (R).

5 hours ago The CURB-65 score estimates mortality of community-acquired pneumonia to help us determine whether inpatient vs. outpatient management is best for the patient. Each of the 5 parameters in CURB-65 is awarded 1 point for a maximum of 5 total points. CURB-65 Confusion Uremia: BUN > 19 mg/dL (> 7 mmol/L) Respiratory Rate ≥ 30 BP: Systolic […]

5 hours ago Sep 04, 2018 . A score of ≤2 on confusion, uremia, elevated respiratory rate, and hypotension at ≥65 years of age (CURB-65), a clinical prediction rule, has shown an association with intensive care unit (ICU) admittance, according to a study published in Annals of Emergency Medicine. However, CURB-65 has a comparatively low sensitivity and should be used with discretion in …

7 hours ago The AUC for CURB-65 was 0.79 (95% bCI, 0.75-0.84) in patients with SARS-CoV-2 CAP and 0.75 (95% bCI, 0.73-0.77) in patients with non-SARS-CoV-2 CAP. Notably, the addition of D-dimer and procalcitonin criteria did not substantially improve the predictive ability of PSI or CURB-65, despite the biological rationale for adding these measures.

This health calculator provides a useful tool for all clinicians interested to risk stratify patients with community acquired pneumonia based on five clinical determinations and an interpretation comprising of a 30 days mortality risk prediction. The CURB-65 is a model that has been adapted after a research by Lim, a study that took place in the UK, the Netherlands and New Zealand th…

1 hours ago CURB-65, also known as the CURB criteria, is a clinical prediction rule that has been validated for predicting mortality in community-acquired pneumonia and infection of any site. The CURB-65 is based on the earlier CURB score and is recommended by the British Thoracic Society for the assessment of severity of pneumonia. It was developed in 2002 at the University of …

2 hours ago Background : the British Thoracic Society uses CURB-65 scoring system to evaluate the severity of pneumonia. On the other hand, some earlier researches indicated that discrimination score of CURB-65 performance to predict mortality is still below of expectations. Therefore, another prognostic factor as an added value is mandatory. In some earlier researches C Reactive …

8 hours ago PSI and CURB-65 can predict in-hospital mortality for patients with SARS-CoV-2 CAP and non-SARS-CoV-2 CAP comparatively. In patients with SARS-CoV-2 CAP, the inclusion of either D-dimer or procalcitonin to PSI or CURB-65 did not improve the prognostic performance of either score. In patients with CAP, regardless of etiology, PSI and CURB-65 remain …

Section 65 hearings are in essence an enquiry into the financial position of the judgement debtor. In the hearing the judgement debtor, under oath, presents oral evidence as to their financial position. The Attorney of the judgement creditor is then afforded the opportunity to cross-examine the judgement debtor.
