3 hours ago For an ADC or DAC, the weight of an LSB equals the full-scale voltage range of the converter divided by 2 N, where N is the converter's resolution. For a 12-bit ADC with a unipolar full-scale voltage of 2.5V, 1LSB = (2.5V/2 12) = 610µV Major-Carry Transition

11 hours ago May 07, 2017 . Nominal full – scale range = 2n x (nominal value of step height), for a DAC. Example: for a hypothetical 3-bit ADC/DAC, with nominal value of step width/step height of 1 V, nominal full-scale range is 8 V For high resolutions (high value of n) both the full-scale range and nominal full-scale range are almost same.

The total number of steps is 2n. Example: 3-bit ADC/DAC has 3-bit numerical resolution and the number of steps is 8. Relative resolution (ADC/DAC) is the ratio of the analog resolution to the full-scale range or nominal full-scale range.
Positive full-scale (ADC/DAC) for a bipolar device, is a term used to refer to the positive end of the input/output transfer diagram or transfer function, that is, to the step whose nominal mid-step/step value has the most positive value.
Typically, the MSB is the left-most bit. A multiplying DAC allows an AC signal to be applied to the reference input. By feeding the signal of interest into the reference input and by using the DAC codes to scale the signal, the DAC can be used as a digital attenuator.
ADCs/DACs use variety of digital coding schemes to interface to the digital world. Some of these coding schemes are: USB (Unipolar Straight Binary), CSB (Complementary Straight Binary), BOB (Bipolar Offset Binary), COB (Complementary Offset Binary), BTC (Binary Two’s Complement), CTC (Complementary Two’s Complement), etc.
