    Think-Pair-Share Debate strategy -- This strategy can be used during the information-gathering part of a debate or as a stand-alone strategy. Students start the activity by gathering information on their own. Give students about 10 minutes to think and make notes about their thoughts.

  • How do you conduct a debate in the classroom?

    You could bring up a topic and poll your students to decide on which side of the debate they fall. Next, split the students into small groups for each side of the debate. Allow students to research their positions and make a logical argument with sequential notes (this would need to be simplified for elementary students).

  • How can I conduct a virtual debate with students?

    Consider who you will invite to join the debate as the audience. This could be a great way to entertain a whole class of students virtually, as it is sure to be an intellectually interesting event. If you’re using Zoom, you can invite up to 100 people total to join the call.
