We started shooting at a block target at 10 yards and worked our way out to 40 yards. We were able to shoot 2” groups at 40 yards with no problem.

Still, it becomes a challenge by stretching the distance. Dude Perfect made things especially fun by shooting a weather balloon over 300 yards away. For most people, even a 30-yard shot on a small balloon is tricky. The ...

8 hours ago Get a really cheap recurve such as a samick or a pse. 30 lb draw or less. Get some decent arrows with feathers not plastic vanes. Use that for a year and by then it will be more clear what to get for a “real” bow. There are plenty of great recurve bow makers- I prefer smaller companies including shrew, big jim, tolke, falco.

Invest in an archery draw board or make one for yourself to see if your bow’s timing is spot on. Shoot an arrow with the proper spine for your bow. If you want optimal arrow flight, your arrow should be correcting itself as quickly as it can. This is where the perfect spine comes into play.
Sunday March 27th the Clear Creek Bowmen will be hosting their annual Hell or High Water 3D Archery Shoot. It will be a two arrow, 30 3D target fun shoot. As always, it will be held and the Tim Meigs Carson City Archery range (On Hwy 50, just east of the golf course). Registration starts at 8:00 am and the shoot will begin at 9:00.
If you are over bowed you will feel shaky, unable to hold your aim steady, and fatigue easily. Competition archery is a sport of precision and endurance NOT power.
When shooting a lighter arrow, just make sure your arrow weight is at or above 5 grains per pound of your bow’s draw weight. Also make sure you are not exceeding any speed limit restrictions of the tournament that you are shooting. Use a pin gapping tool for setting multi-pin sights.
Arrows: Speed and Distance. This chart shows an arrow traveling 270 f.p.s. compared to the speed of projectiles of other hunting methods. The hand-drawn, hand-held and handreleased bow and arrow is a low velocity, high-trajectory, short-range system.
The arrow speed calculator makes the following assumptions: Every inch of draw length under 30″ will subtract 10 ft per second from the IBO value. Every inch of draw length above 30″ will add 10 feet per second to the IBO value.
Tests show that, depending on total arrow weight, on average, the reduction of 4 to 6 grains of arrow weight will produce an increase of one foot per second in arrow velocity.
A bullet traveling 2,700 f.p.s. = 1,840 mph. Tests show that, depending on total arrow weight, on average, the reduction of 4 to 6 grains of arrow weight will produce an increase of one foot per second in arrow velocity.
