  • Is Mayo low FODMAP?

    Mayonnaise (Low or Regular Fat) Commercially prepared mayonnaise is low FODMAP . The main ingredients for mayonnaise are from egg yolks, lemon juice or vinegar, vegetable oil or olive oil and some times seasoning. Just check that your mayonnaise does not include onion or garlic powder.

  • What does FODMAP stand for?

    FODMAP stands for “fermentable oligo-, di-, mono-saccharides and polyols” (1). These are short-chain carbs that are resistant to digestion. Instead of being absorbed into your bloodstream, they reach the far end of your intestine where most of your gut bacteria reside.

  • Is a banana low FODMAP or high FODMAP?

    Bananas: Bananas have both low and high FODMAP serving sizes. For the common banana, Monash University lab tests report that 1 medium unripe banana of 100 g is low FODMAP, and that ⅓ of a medium ripe banana at 35 g is low FODMAP. Note that most baking recipes use very ripe bananas; our serving sizes reflect low FODMAP portions.
