2 hours ago Jul 14, 2010 . I finally have my first-edition GBS protocol (see below). I imagine it might change slightly, though, as I gather more experience, and more research is done on this bacteria. [Added later: This is a simple, but great article written by an Arkansas midwife on GBS.

2 hours ago Jul 17, 2017 . Group B strep lives in the intestines and migrates down to the rectum, vagina, and urinary tract. All around the world, anywhere from 10-30% of pregnant people are “colonized” with or carry GBS in their bodies ( Johri et al. 2006 ). 6 hours ago I was planning a homebirth, but the GBS culture came back positive, with low colonization. The midwives are now recommending that we birth at the birth center so we can get antibiotics during labor. We wanted our baby to have a gentle birth with the best start possible and no drugs, including antibiotics. We are heartbroken, of course.

Discussion groups: (Of which there are many, this is the one I find most valuable.) The MANA Students and New Midwives discussion group is very useful, without a lot of extraneous fluff.
Free online learning resources for midwifery from WikiEducator. A long list of learning resources including midwifery specific biology, suturing, breastfeeding and featuring stuff like pharmacology for the more medically inclined. The Little Handbook of Statistical Practice from Gerard E. Dallal of Tufts University in Boston.
The MANA Students and New Midwives discussion group is very useful, without a lot of extraneous fluff. Discussions range from handling situations that arise in prenatal care and birth, links to studies on related topics, discussion of setting up a practice, and information about the many paths to becoming educated as a midwife.
In addition to GBS subject matter experts at CDC, stakeholders from ACOG, AAP, ACNM, and AAFP informed the app development. Additional beta-testers, including several private obstetric providers as well as pediatric and obstetric providers in training, were involved in content development and design of the user interface.
