PE Mechanical exam. The Principles and Practice of Engineering (PE) exam tests for a minimum level of competency in a particular engineering discipline. It is designed for engineers who have gained a minimum of four years’ post-college work experience in their chosen engineering discipline.
The FE Mechanical exam consists of 110 exam questions that cover a variety of mechanical engineering topics. The exam is a computer-based test and examinees have six hours to complete the exam. For reference, participants may use the FE Reference Handbook to help guide them during the exam.
