According to Maria Montessori children first should acquire a skill to write before learning to read. With a movement of their hand, children learn to trace letters and connect them to the phonetic sound they represent. Once children have a solid knowledge of all phonemes it usually does not take long before they start reading.
This pre-reading Montessori language activity involves simple nomenclature cards. The work can be done with image-to-image with the label, or image with a label to image and the to label. Children match the image and then the labels to the image. They work from left to right, preparing the child for reading and writing.
Dr. Maria Montessori, an Italian physician and educator, developed a method of teaching based on her scientific observations of young children’s behavior. Her first “Children’s House” was established in Rome in 1907.

Learn to read Spanish with phonics is designed for kids from the age of 3 until 6 or 7 years old and even adults to improve pronunciation. Each lesson contains 11 games, all available in two different levels. Ideal for parents and teachers looking for a way to practice and ask the kids the first syllables and words in Spanish.

"We then put away the toys and set ourselves to make hundreds of written labels-names of children, of objects, of cities, of colors and of qualities made known through exercises of the senses. We placed them in more boxes and let the children search as they pleased among them.
"Experience tells us that, counting from the moment at which the child can write, the passage from this lower form of written language to the higher one of reading is an average about fifteen days." But… "Accuracy in reading, however almost always comes later than perfection in writing.
