Dedicated “nut free brands”, namely those who proudly state their product is “nut free” or “nut safe” on the label. Other pre-packed foods which contain no mention of nuts in the ingredients and have no “may contain nuts” or equivalently worded warning.
Some schools give guidelines that foods must not contain peanut or tree nuts but don’t require them to be from nut-free facilities. Some do. Be familiar with the rules for wherever you’re sending food so you can make sure to choose snacks that comply with their guidelines.
Note: Haribo UK confirmed by email in August 2013 that “we do not use any nuts on site with the exception of coconut”. You can contact them for a full list of their sweets (produced in the UK) that are “suitable for nut free diets”.

Peanuts, almonds, pecans, macadamia nuts, walnuts, pine nuts, pistachios, cashews, Brazil nuts and all other natural nuts are gluten-free. Sesame seeds and sunflower seeds are also gluten-free. The thing you have to watch out for with nuts is packaged nuts that have flavors added.
Another classic pre-packaged snack for peanut allergies is cheese and crackers. Cheese sticks and cubes are available at many convenience stores, and a growing number of crackers are peanut-free or produced by nut-free companies. Some brands of popular nut-free crackers include Cheez-It, Goldfish, Keebler Club, Ritz, Townhouse, and Triscuit.
Nuts in their pure form are gluten-free. Peanuts, almonds, pecans, macadamia nuts, walnuts, pine nuts, pistachios, cashews, Brazil nuts and all other natural nuts are gluten-free.
Neither Multi Grain Cheerios nor Apple Cinnamon Cheerios contain any type of nut or peanut flour in them (at least in Canada anyway), however both have a may contain wheat and soy ingredients warning on them. I have also called General Mills about these cereals a while back and got the same response.
