Greenery, plants, flowers, trees all help to ‘sell’ an image because the dogs look like they are in a natural setting as opposed to pet prison. Even shots taken on plain bark backgrounds work well. Keep the background pretty simple as you want the focus to be on the pet, not the background.
Upload your pet’s photos and drag and drop everything into your design. Change the background with a solid color or patterned one. We have a library of color palettes that you can use or play around with from scratch.
Make sure your pet has gone to the bathroom prior to your studio session. This will help prevent accidents and keep anxious pets at ease. Bring a supply of treats or your pet's favorite toy. One of my favourite projects is ‘Wet Dogs’ by Sophie Gamand. It’s a really simple idea that creates keepsake images. All you need is some water and soap! Unlike cats, dogs tend to love water, so this image is easier to create with pups. The next time you wash your pet, grab your camera and give it a try.
There are accessories they will need to use, such as an off-camera flash and camera cleaning kit. To get the attention of pets outdoors, toys and treats will make you approachable. They will also take direction if they know they will get something out of it. Business cards are also a great idea.
