11 hours ago Nov 30, 2013 . IMO, the only reason to own an Etherwave Pro is to simply get a foot in the door to the playground of 'more graceful' theremin playing if the goal is melodic music. Any musician that is serious about playing any instrument should want to own (and perform on) the best instrument available, or an instrument that satisfies his/her musical needs ...

12 hours ago Best beginner theremin? Frankly, it depends on your budget. As you may know, the Moog Etherwave Standard/Plus have been discontinued and the Claravox Centennial and Etherwave Pro's limited runs have finished. This makes finding a good theremin tricky, and many of the remaining options have compromises (not that these ones didn't either).

Interestingly, the theremin's roots go back to the Russian government's research into proximity sensors in the early twentieth century. Its inventor, Léon Theremin, left Russia shortly after inventing the instrument and eventually made his way to the United States to patent it.
When activated the Theremini will play every note in a selected scale perfectly, making it impossible to play a wrong note. As the assistive pitch correction is decreased, more expressive control of pitch and vibrato becomes possible.
A modern update to the instrument is the Moog Theremini, which includes some more modern electronics. The Theremini is perfect for learning to play the theremin, with a tuner that gives real-time visual feedback to help you ensure you're correctly hitting the notes.
