No player on the throwing team may touch the disc in the air before it is touched by a member of the receiving team. The receiving team may catch the disc or allow it to fall untouched to the ground. If a member of the receiving team successfully catches the throw-off they may advance the disc by passing at that point.
Every player on the field can run except for the player holding the disc. Once a player catches a disc, they must come to a stop and can only move by pivoting on one of their feet.

The high release helps get the disc over the marks hands. The nature of the release, the high arc gives the disc more touch, so you are able to lead your receiver. Pro Tip: Elevator backhands tend to fall back to the left for righties, so make sure to either compensate by leading your player more, or keeping an outside in edge to it.
